Want Quantum Computing Practice?
Sign up to be a Beta Tester for a Quantum Computing Manning liveProject!
Today, I’d like to share a call for beta testers from my dear friend Tony Holdroyd. Tony is the author of a Quantum Computing Manning liveProject.
So, what’s this about?
Manning Publications is recruiting beta testers for a learning program called a liveProject. A liveProject is a self-led project where you can gain real skills and experience from real-world scenarios. You’ll develop your own solutions for each milestone within a project as you build the whole project layer by layer. And you’re not alone in the project–you will have 3 layers of help, a project mentor, and your fellow learners that you can count on for assistance if you ever get stuck.
There are 5 projects in this series with each project taking about 3-5 hours per week to complete. The beta testing will take 5 weeks. Each project is broken into milestones that contain one or more workflows that are resourced and explained coding exercises using IBM Qiskit. Testers are assigned to complete either the whole series or individual projects. Even though the projects build upon one another, it is possible to complete an individual project without completing the whole series.
As a beta tester, you are expected to:
Provide detailed feedback within the individual project and for each of its milestones,
Participate in the discussion forum (group chat) to share your impression of the project, provide comments, discuss issues or challenges with your peers and the mentor, and flag irregularities,
Fill in the liveProject Series Feedback form/review form when you’re finished testing, and
Attend a group video mentoring session during beta, should your schedule and time zone allow you.
In return, you will have unlimited access to this liveProject (meaning even once beta testing is done and it is published) and 90-days unlimited access to relevant Manning resources.
A Manning liveBook or liveProject series of your choice will be given to those who provide constructive and detailed feedback, complete all projects, and submit their work to all milestones.
There is an optional Manning Publications Certificate of Completion that can be earned as well.
The prerequisites for this series are:
Basic Python programming
Basic use of the command line and also of Jupyter Notebooks
Basic algebra (equations and surds)
Basic linear algebra (vectors and matrices)
Basic geometry (diagrams and angles)
Very basic complex numbers (format and simple manipulation)
Basic probability (using fractions and normalization)
Basic classical computing (bits and logic gates)
This is a chance to get a strong foothold in quantum computing, the future of computing! If you feel you meet the prerequisites for this exciting opportunity, please follow this link to fill out the application form and you will then hear back from the Manning Review Editor for this new liveProject. Thank you!
This liveProject is a fantastic way to get your hands on quantum computing. If that’s not enough, you can still join the Early Access Program of Hands-On Quantum Machine Learning With Python Volume 2: Combinatorial Optimization. More than 110 pages are already waiting for you!
Furthermore, if you haven’t yet claimed your copy of Volume 1, you can save 10% by buying the eBook bundle. It contains the complete Volume 1 and the Early Access of Volume 2.
